About Us

The Collins Concert Band is a Collins Aerospace sponsored concert band via the Clubs and Leagues. We play a wide variety of music: marches, show tunes, big band swing, polkas, and popular favorites. The Brass Ensemble is a smaller, brass-instrument group, focusing on Brass Quintet music (classical, swing, jazz, showtunes, etc.).

Events

We rehearse Monday evenings at 5:00 - 5:50 PM for the Brass Ensemble and 6:00 - 7:00 PM in the Building 120 Cafeteria on C Ave NE (East side of street, south building). Check back for dates on upcoming performances.

About Us

The band has performed since 1982 at venues within Collins facilities and around the community. However, some form of the band has been in existence at Collins since the late 1940s!

We are sponsored through Collins Aerospace Employee Services, and receive financial support from the company to purchase new music and supplies. Additionally, band members pay $15 dues each year as a way to help offset incidental expenses.

The Collins Concert Band consists of a concert band and a brass ensemble. Band members are all volunteers who play for the love of music, camaraderie, and the opportunity to perform within the corporate campus and the surrounding communities. Note:

The concert band has had several directors over the years: Tom Mills (1982-2007), Jim Jezek (2007-2014), Drew Miller (2014-2015), and Jim Jezek (2015-Current).

The band is always interested in musicians who are interested in conducting a piece in the band during our rehearsals and performances.

Would you like to play?

The band and brass ensemble provide opportunity for employees, retirees, spouses, and family members to share their musical talents.

We rehearse and perform from latter part of August to early June, taking a break June and July. We extend our season when invited to perform at the Iowa Municipal Band Festival in Boone Iowa, 2nd Saturday of July.

Both groups rehearse Monday evenings at the Building 120 Cafeteria on C Ave NE. Parking is available in the adjacent hybrid lot after hours, and the main parking lot behind Building 130.

5:00 pm - 5:50 pm: Brass Ensemble Rehearsal
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm: Concert Band Rehearsal
